It’s been over 10 years since I started my second company that provides consulting to businesses looking to generate more website traffic. A decade ago, we didn’t have all of today’s cool acronyms like SEO, PPC, CRO, CMS, and RT, and making sense of the search engines didn’t require a Ph.D. in Algorithms, Combinators & Optimizations.
Being the leader of an organization, whether it was 4, 12 or 40 people, has been a truly enjoyable experience. I have had the pleasure of working with a lot of great people over the years that give their all to everything they do. The past few years have been a little more challenging for me, and I found myself exploring how I might contribute to Volume Nine differently.
It has been more than two years since Natalie Henley stepped into the role of President for Volume Nine and she has done an excellent job running the day-to-day of the organization. V9 has weathered its share of brief storms over the last few years as we have seen a lot of industry change and new competitors. The bottom line is we are as healthy and strong as ever, and a lot of that is due to Natalie’s contribution to the company and the leadership she provides to the team.
Once Natalie and I started to talk about the role that I wanted to play and the direction that Natalie wanted to take the company, it only took a matter of days to decide that the best thing for Volume Nine would be to hand the keys to Natalie Henley as the new leader of the organization.
As we started to talk to the team here at Volume Nine, the first question on everyone’s mind was what my new role would be. As I explained my commitment to the team, I had to admit that it wasn’t 100% figured out. However, for the near term, my nrole will focus on acquiring new business, rolling out new technologies that bring innovation, and ensuring financial stability for the company.
One of my first projects involves rolling out a new technology platform that we’re calling V9 Hub. This platform replaces our legacy V9 Dashboard and Manager and will become our client portal for the future. We also will be launching several new website initiatives and marketing campaigns to support our new position in the in the marketplace, and fuel our growth for the future.
I’m not going anywhere and plan to be an even stronger contributor to our success as Founder & Owner than I was in leading the organization on a daily basis. Too often, I found myself caught up in the day-to-day. Moving forward, I will be focused on providing the support and foundation that Volume Nine needs to be the best company possible.
Natalie and I make a great team, and we are supported by an incredible group of talented individuals that do whatever it takes for our clients and partners. Under Natalie’s direction, I am confident that the best years of Volume Nine are in front of us and that I will look back on this transition as one of the best decisions that I made for the organization.
